Modify folders shown in Twonky media/DLNA

Hello all,

1st post here, this forum is great!! :)

I'm trying to change the folders that are displayed when I double click on Twonky/Media in my computer or when I access the network with my TV (Sony Bravia).
I currently have 1 public share with 3 different folders in my book live | Videos > Music > Photos | where i have all my media.
I would like to be able to access twonky/dlna from my tv to be able to see the content of those folders only when I select either video/music/photos. Currently when I select any of those options, im being presented with a lot of different folders which act as a filter.

ie if I go to music, I get a bunch of folders / Album / All Music / Artist /Artist Index… etc.
if I go to video, I get a bunch of folders /Actor / album / all video / by date, etc..

I would like to access any of those main folders and just be able to see their contents, not all those folders/filters.

I have SSH access to the MBL and have already tried modifying a few files without success.
I have some basic knowledge on this (already updated twonky to version 7)

Right now i just installed the new firmware update thru the GUI and decided to give DNLA a try, as I'm using Windows 8.
Does anyone know how to get rid of all those folders so I can see the content directly from my tv? :)

Mblive has a yellowish light now

I had to go out of town for 2 weeks… so i shut off all the computers… and the mblnas i unpluged it after the ms box shut off…. now all i get is a blue light when i plug it in…. then goes to a semi yellowish light…. and it will recycle to a blue light after a period of time…but it doesnt show up on network neighborhood… or lanscan….i also cant putty to it…

i have access to a linux box

how do I get the mybooklive live hd to show back up on my network neighborhood?

ive tried a couple of the posts… but the mbl hd is not being seen in the lan scan …
ive tried to reinstall the smartware… now all it wants to do is go to drop box…completely worthless

the connect with putty doesnt work… since the device isnt listed in the first place

sorry if its disconjointed…

please help

Logitech Media Server not working after firmware upgrade

Hi,

After the last firmware upgrade (17-4-2013) the LMS is not working any more. I tried reinstalling with the guide on this website but no success.

The first problem I encountered is changing the twonky port. When I change the port to 8000 in /CacheVolume/twonkymedia/twonkymedia-server.ini twonky changes it back when I do /etc/init.d/twonky start. I solved this by changing the port in the /etc/init.d/twonky file directly.

But then I tried installing logitechmediaserver_7.7.2_all.deb (from downloads slimdevices com) with no effect. It installs allright, but then when I start the server and try to access it by <ip>:9000 i get a cannot connect error.

Is there anybody who got the LMS working on the new firmware? An how did you do it?

Volume Status - Volume 'DataVolume' doesn't exist

Hi
My single 1TB World Book has started to report "Volume Status - Volume 'DataVolume' doesn't exist".

One site suggested opening the unit and mount this disk on a linux PC.
I've done that in Ubuntu, but gparted just shows :

/dev/sdb1 - Unknown - 128MiB
unallocated - Unallocated - 931.39 GiB

So is there any way to get my data back ?

Any help would be gratefully received :(

Getting PHP 5.3 onto my My Book Live Duo

Hi there,

I am trying to get PHP 5.3 installed on a WD My Book Live. Unfortunately I can not do it by apt-get update and apt-get install.

At the end of the day I would like to install Owncloud in the MBL, but to do so I need PHP 5.3 and not the preinstalled 5.2 Version.

Does anyone successfully installed owncloud on the MBL Duo?

Dear all,
new to the forum and pleased to be here.

I have recently bought a White Light II and am now looking to set up cloud based backup.

I read an interesting blog post ( sorry can't post links yet-maybe I can PM someone the link to post?) about using Amazon's S3 services. They are not compatible with rsync but for mass back ups (archiving) their "glacier" service is very cheap ($0.01 per GB per month) and I would dearly like to be able to use it via my NAS.

The key requirement is that s3fs needs to be installed on the NAS somehow.

I'm completely new to this stuff and when I tried to follow the instructions for installing from tarball it failed on the configure check part. It is missing several dependencies:

…so I guess the NAS doesn't have these dependencies installed as it was never envisaged that anyone would be compiling a program on it.

What is the best/only way to proceed (roughly) from here? Do I need to create an ipk myself or something?

This would be pretty cool to get working as the pricing is very cheap for long term archiving (that's all you need when you have your own RAID based NAS after all, just to cover the unlikely event that both disks fail at the same time)

Any help or pointers appreciated. I don't expect anyone to dig into the details but it would be useful for lots of people to get this working I feel.

Wrong "Unsafe device removal" alerts

I have MyBookLiveDuo with connected external HD. Quite often (sometime 5-10 times a day) I get "Unsafe device removal" alerts with the text "A USB device (vendor: Seagate, model: Expansion, serial number: NA4G1KBQ) was removed without being ejected possibly affecting data on share Expansion."

I do not touch the HD or MyBookLiveDuo. I can not find neither any cause of the alert nor how I can supress it. Search in the Internet gave me nothing.

May be anyone had such problem or can suggestion how to fix the issue ?

Making the WD my book live as a mini-server

HOW install a debian via the internet in disque Western Digital My Book Live wdbacg0030hch-eesn ?????????
the objectif is Making the WD my book live wdbacg0030hch-eesn as a mini-server: change the OS with other OS (debian or other) and install our propre package.
If not possible, instal some package (mysql, php …) in the disque, and deconnect the disque from other distance application (because i think that the disque connect to distance server)

BitTorrent Sync

I tried to run BitTorrent Sync (watch at labs of bittorrent) on my WD MyBook World Edition (White line) without success. I downloaded ARM version of BitTorrent Sync, copied it to root folder, loged in as root an started it with ./btsync. But I cannot access BitTorrent Sync with WebGUI via YourLocalIP:8888/gui.

Does anyone know how to run BitTorrent Sync on WD MyBook World Edition (White line)?

How to piece it back - WDBACG0020HCH

Ok guys, I had an 2 TB HDD lying around and i got WDBACG0020HCH casing from ebay. I have managed to follow the sellers instructions in installaling the OS on my 2 TB HDD, no issues there. everything working like a charm.
NOw how do i piece it back together >? i cant find any you tube links. can some one help me out here ?

Hi. How can I reset my MBL and keep my data? With reset, I mean going back to stock software. I have done several experiments and installed several software packages on my MBL. Is there an easy way of getting back to only stock software?

If anyone is interested,

I have figured out how to install OwnCloud on the MBL. It's not a very difficult process - I only bricked my box once - and I now have a personal Dropbox-style server with 3 TB of space. The server is free, and there is no monthly fees, or registration, or anything. It can be installed alongside the existing WD Web UI and WD services.

If anyone is interested, I can create and post a guide.

MBL yellow light

Hey guys,

I tried to update to the latest FW but at the end the MBL could not restart itself.

Now there is always yellow light. no ssh or no way of connection.

what will i do? MBL is dead at the moment.

Hi
Wondering if someone can help. I have trawled through many forums and seem to not get any answers.

My MBWE white light has a steady bottom light lit all the time. I have tried re-booting - nothing. Using a different power socket - nothing
I cannot even switch it off.

I am hoping that the drive is not Bricked? if it is can i use a SATA Docking station to retrive data?

I am Using a MAC

hello to everybody and thankyou for this forum.
I'm working hard to apply a cron service to restart my nas everyday at 3 o'clock.
but I can't.

can anyone help me?

if I call crontab -l I see
45 18 * * * /sbin/reboot

but at 18.45 it doesn't reboot

if I call /sbin/reboot
it works rebooting

…..
any ideas?

Hello all as this is my first post here

I have development tools up and running on MBL 2tb on latest fw. (unfortunately I'm no programmer)
Its quite capable machine i have to say
I'm looking way to unlock and use hardware crypto accelerator & run own kernel and even upgrade to debian 7.0
There is thread on community.wdc.com where we can find that enabling hardware crypto will close doors to some markets.

I have sources from WD and netgear WNDR4700 (is based on the same chipset) and they share same kernel version 2.6.32-11
There are people that try port openwrt on WNDR4700 and we can also benefit from it.
AMCC submitted opensource kernel drivers to crypto4xx so all should be in place.

Can somebody share their knowledge about subject ?
