Can't login / connect to afp shares from OS X

Hi

I'm running OS X 10.8.4

I've followed the relevant guide to install netatalk and avahi. The share doesn't appear in finder so I'm guessing that's an avahi configuration issue but I'll get to that later.

I can connect to the MBW from finder using "afp://9.1.861.291|EMANRESUYM#9.1.861.291|EMANRESUYM". It asks for password. I enter the password I use to ssh into MBW. Finder spins for a while then shakes as if the password is wrong.

Below is the messages from MBW

 Jul 25 12:09:46 MyBookWorld daemon.notice afpd[1681]: AFP/TCP started, advertising c0a8:109:d4dc:bcbe::4000:0:548 (2.2.0) Jul 25 12:14:01 MyBookWorld daemon.notice afpd[1687]: AFP statistics: 0.58 KB read, 0.43 KB written Jul 25 12:14:06 MyBookWorld daemon.notice afpd[1685]: AFP statistics: 0.62 KB read, 0.48 KB written

Console in OS X doesn't give anything useful.

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks in advance
A
